About Us

Shedding a light on minorities in the field of medicine.

Who We Are

Melanin Doc is a 501(c)(3) organization with the purpose of shedding light on minorities in the field of medicine. Our goal is to create more Melanin Docs.

Created in June 2016, Melanin Doc has slowly grown on social media platforms. Currently Melanin Doc has worked with students and practitioners in the US and Internationally. The mission is to continue to grow and work with other organizations to increase Melanin exposure to healthcare.

Meet Our Founders

It was during his time in medical school at University of Texas Medical Branch where he envisioned and created the Melanin Doc movement.  He is currently a Psychiatry Resident at Baylor College of Medicine and enjoys working out, creating businesses, and reading. Growing up his mom said he “was always up to no good and could never sit still”. He has been to 28 countries and counting and has an amazing twin sister.

Tochi Ajiwe, MD
Tochi Ajiwe was born and raised in Southwest Houston, TX. He is a Baylor University alumni, attended medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX, and is a current Emergency Medicine resident at Baylor College of Medicine.
