Somto’s background is a combination of mental health, tech and healthcare. Somto grew up in Houston and went to college at Baylor University. It was during his time in medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he envisioned and created the Melanin Doc movement. He is currently a Psychiatry Resident at Baylor College of Medicine and enjoys traveling, working out, creating businesses, and reading.
Ted’s background is in healthcare innovation and health equity. He has previous experience launching a digital health startup in West Africa and co-founding the Diversity Innovation Hub. Ted holds a BA in Psychology with Distinction from the University of Virginia and is pursuing an MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as well as an MS/MBA in Biotechnology from Harvard. Outside of work, Ted enjoys watching sports and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Tochi Ajiwe was born and raised in Southwest Houston, TX. He is a Baylor University alumni, attended medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX, and is a current Emergency Medicine resident at Baylor College of Medicine. Part of the initial start of Melanin Doc, he loves traveling, photography, finance, and real estate investing.
