Learn more about Melanin Doc Connect.

Melanin Doc Connect is a digital health community that connects people of color to the largest network of culturally competent healthcare providers nationwide.

Implicit bias among healthcare providers exacerbate health disparities especially for black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) patients. Extensive research suggests that bias has daunting implications for patients of color who often experience worse patient-provider interactions, inaccurate treatment decisions, and less treatment adherence. From a societal view, bias can lead to excess medical costs and lost productivity.

Providers can sign up here using their email address. Providers fill out demographic information, including specialty, work address, and biography. Finally, we ask providers to take a brief implicit bias test and sign our patient bill of rights abiding by our fundamental aim of intentionally creating a healing space for BIPOC patients.

We do NOT share provider information with any third-party agencies. Patients only have access to the information provided by the provider, including biography, work address, and specialty. Patients do NOT have access to any provider’s email address.

Providers can list their practice for absolutely free, allowing patients to find them. However, if a provider would like to promote their practice and access patient lead data, we charge a subscription fee of $5 per month allowing more patients to view their profile.

Patients can access the Melanin Doc Connect Directory and newsletter providing evidence-based minority health information for free. We will be offering other services including virtual care in the future.
