Somto Obi, MD grew up predominantly in Houston and went to college at Baylor University. He later went on to University of Texas Medical Branch for medical school and completed his Psychiatry Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. During his time at the University of Texas Medical Branch, he founded the Melanin Doc movement in 2016. This initiative was born from a vision to diversify the field of medicine. Somto enjoys traveling, reading and exploring entrepreneurship endeavors.
Ted is a fourth-year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He
completed his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, and subsequently
completed a MS/MBA in Biotechnology at Harvard. Outside of medicine, Ted is passionate
about supporting the next generation of healthcare providers.
Ashley is an MS4 at Meharry Medical College applying into dermatology. Before starting medical school, she graduated from Baylor University with a Sociology degree and previously worked as a tutor. Ashley is passionate about mentoring and all things skin care. She enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Ogechukwu Anwaegbu, second-year MD/MPH student at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Current speciality interest are otolaryngology and anesthesiology. Graduated from Texas A&M University in 2020. Outside of the medical realm, Oge is considered a blush pink enthusiast and played the violin for 10 years.
Adannaya Ihediwa, a 2nd-year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch, graduated from Texas Tech University in 2021 with a B.S. in Biology and Minors in Chemistry, Psychology, and Sociology. She is interested in pursuing a triple board in Pediatrics/General Psychiatry/Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She also plans to stay involved in academia and non-profit initiatives. Beyond medicine, she is an avid foodie, traveler, and hobby collector!

Michel Adeniran, a second-year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch, graduated from Texas Tech University in 2020 with a B.S. in Nutrition and minors in Chemistry. She later received her M.S. in Molecular Pathology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. She is currently interested in Otolaryngology and Psychiatry. In addition to her medical career, she plans on creating a non-profit organization titled 'Dream Come True’. She also plans to serve multiple needs in the community through various entrepreneurial ventures. Her hobbies include sleeping, shopping, cooking, dancing, sewing, and spending time with loved ones.
Linda Etufugh is a second year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch who graduated from Texas State University with a B.S. in Biology and King’s College London with a MSc in Global Health. She is interested in pursuing pediatrics and a career involved in academia and public/global health. Outside of medicine, Linda enjoys traveling, reading and modeling.
